The first book of architecture
An English edition of Palladio's first book of architecture, printed in London in 1676 for builders, surveyors and gentlemen readers working from the Italian originals. Engraved plates give arcades, rusticated piers, pedestals, window surrounds with scrolled brackets, and moulding profiles in section, all lettered and dimensioned — usable as line ornament, measured geometry and architectural framing devices.
