The first book of architecture
An English edition of Palladio's first book of architecture, with Pierre Le Muet's additions, printed in London for A. Bettesworth in 1733 and aimed at builders, masons and gentleman architects. The copperplate figures give elevations and details of doors, arcades, pedestals and capitals overlaid with setting-out geometry, lettered keys and dimension figures, useful for construction lines, volute spirals, moulding profiles and measured architectural diagrams.
