The First Mohawk primer
A short bibliographical study of an early Mohawk-language primer, written by the Montreal numismatist and antiquarian Robert Wallace McLachlan and privately printed in Montreal in 1908 for collectors and students of early Canadian printing. The illustrations are reproductions of printers' ornaments: a triangular scrolled-leaf tailpiece, two versions of a jagged vine leaf with curling tendrils, and a black-ground foliate initial, all usable as small spot ornaments, drop caps, and section dividers in heavy line.
