Flemish relics; architectural, legendary, and pictorial, as connected with public buildings in Belgium
An 1866 London account by Frederic George Stephens of Belgian churches and civic buildings, published by A.W. Bennett with mounted photographs for British antiquarian and architectural readers. Faded sepia views show Gothic spires, flying buttresses and tracery against blank sky, crowded gabled rooftops, and dim interiors with arcades, chandeliers and stacked chairs, offering silhouettes, window patterns and soft tonal texture for collage or backgrounds.
