Fliegender Sommer : aus den Papieren des Goswin Krell
A 1922 German prose volume by Alfred Putzel, published by Oskar Wöhrle in Konstanz and cut on wood by Wilhelm Rupprecht for the postwar Expressionist book trade. The sixteen woodcuts work in flat black masses broken by coarse white gouges — leaning half-timbered houses, gothic arches and steeples, candlelit interiors, small stiff figures among stylized flowers — and offer designers high-contrast silhouettes, chiselled hatching textures and a cornered WR monogram.
