Floor games
A short 1912 essay by H. G. Wells, published in Boston by Small, Maynard and company, describing the games he and his sons built on the nursery floor with toy soldiers, bricks, boards and paper. Sketchy pen-and-ink drawings and marginal vignettes show lead soldiers casting long shadows, plank-and-block towns, shop signs, ranked bandsmen, field cannon and canvas tents, useful as loose linear spot art and toy-scale architecture.
