Florence and her art
An English-language survey of Florentine art and architecture by Georg Biermann, translated by Francis F. Cox and issued in London by Siegle, Hill & Co. in 1912 for travellers and general readers. The plates are halftone photographs of arcaded courtyards, cloister walks, loggias, inlaid marble church fronts and piazzas, giving designers repeating arch rhythms, patterned stone facing and soft grey photographic tone for architectural backgrounds.
