Flowers and heraldry; or, Floral emblems and heraldic figures, combined to express pure sentiments, kind feelings, and excellent principles ..
Robert Tyas compiled this 1851 London gift book for Houlston & Stoneman, pairing the language of flowers with heraldic shields for Victorian readers who exchanged sentimental emblems. Twenty-four hand-coloured plates set flowers as charges on plain shields, each with a crest above and a motto ribbon below, in flat opaque red, yellow, purple and blue against cream paper.
