A flower wedding : described by two wallflowers
Walter Crane's A Flower Wedding (Cassell, London, 1905) is a picture book in which flowers appear as wedding guests in human form, with verse text and Crane's own designs for a general and family readership. The plates are pen-outline figures filled with pale washes of green, yellow and blue, each costume built from a single plant — petal collars, leaf-striped gowns, bud headdresses, trailing trains — usable as costume ornament, botanical motif, or line-and-flat-colour drawing reference.
