A biography and catalogue of the Pre-Raphaelite painter Ford Madox Brown, written by his grandson Ford Madox Ford and published by Longmans, Green in London and New York in 1896 for art readers and collectors. The 49 plates are sepia and grey photogravures of Brown's paintings and drawings: crowded historical and biblical figure groups, deathbed and interior scenes, medieval and Victorian costume, useful for period dress, massed-figure staging and soft tonal halftone texture.
