Fors clavigera. Letters to the workmen and labourers of Great Britain
John Ruskin's Fors Clavigera, a serial of monthly letters on work, money and art addressed to British workmen and labourers, issued from 1871 by George Allen at Orpington, Kent. The plates mix Ruskin's own outline diagrams — a serrated leaf traced vein by vein, a bare logarithmic spiral — with small tonal woodcuts of rose sprays, giving designers clean line studies of natural geometry alongside a denser vignette idiom.
