The foundations of mathematics; a contribution to the philosophy of geometry
Paul Carus's 1908 philosophical treatise on the foundations of geometry, published in Chicago by Open Court for mathematicians and philosophers arguing over axioms and non-Euclidean space. The figures are spare line diagrams—lettered pencils of rays, a cube in outline, curved tessellating shapes—plus one hatched woodcut of segmented wood grain, giving designers clean geometric schematics and one dense linear texture.
