Fra Bartolommeo und die Florentiner Renaissance
A German art-historical monograph on the Florentine painter Fra Bartolommeo and his circle, written by Hans von der Gabelentz and published in Leipzig by K.W. Hiersemann in 1922 for scholars and connoisseurs. The plates reproduce chalk and pen studies at close range — draped figures, kneeling and reclining bodies, heads bent in prayer, clusters of hands — printed as grainy halftones with loose hatching, broken contours and much blank paper, useful for drapery folds, gesture studies and textures of reproduced drawing.
