Fra Filippo Lippi
A 1905 Boston monograph from Bates and Guild on the Florentine painter Fra Filippo Lippi, issued for art students and collectors as a plate-based survey of his panels and frescoes. The halftones reproduce altarpieces and wall paintings in soft grey tones: enthroned Madonnas under round arches, crowded processions in tiled architectural interiors, annunciation scenes with patterned backdrops, and single robed figures usable as cutout silhouettes or texture fields.
