Fragrance among old volumes; essays and idylls of a book lover
Essays and sketches on books and bookmen by Basil Anderton, a Newcastle librarian, published in London in 1910 for collectors and readers interested in bibliography and bookplates. The plates reproduce Thomas Bewick wood-engraved bookplates — name tablets and shields set among dense foliage, broken masonry, rivers with sailing ships and distant towers — alongside a soft-toned photogravure of an open book with a rosary; useful for name panels, vignette borders and small engraved landscape fillers.
