Franks bequest. Catalogue of British and American book plates bequeathed to the trustees of the British Museum by Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks
A British Museum Department of Prints and Drawings catalogue of the British and American bookplates left by Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks, compiled by E. R. J. Gambier Howe and printed by order of the Trustees in London, 1903, for librarians, collectors and heraldic researchers. The plates reproduce engraved armorial bookplates in line: quartered shields, helms and crests, mantling and acanthus scrollwork, supporters such as bears and lions, and ribbon scrolls carrying mottoes and owners' names in engraved script.
