Paintings of the West [electronic resource]

Babcock Galleries · 1920 · New York : Babcock Galleries · 13 pictures

An exhibition catalogue of American Western paintings issued by Babcock Galleries in New York in 1920, made for gallery visitors, collectors and dealers, and preserved by the Frick Art Reference Library. The halftone plates reproduce oil paintings of blanketed riders, tipi camps in snow, women with water jars and donkeys, and a mule-drawn stagecoach on open ground, all in soft grey tonal ranges useful for muted backgrounds, silhouetted figure groups and low-horizon landscape bands.
