A sale catalogue of Early English, Dutch and Flemish paintings issued by the Blakeslee Galleries at 353 Fifth Avenue, New York, around 1900, made for collectors, dealers and auction-goers. The plates are halftone reproductions of oil portraits in soft grey tones: women in ruffs, lace collars and jewelled chains, children in satin gowns, half-lengths against dark grounds and full-lengths beside draped curtains, usable as period costume reference and as vignette-edged portrait stock.
