The collection of pictures of the late Herr A. de Ridder, formerly in his villa at Sh©œnberg near Cronberg in the Taunus [electronic resource]
A 1913 New York sale catalogue from F. Kleinberger Galleries, with text by Wilhelm von Bode, recording August de Ridder's collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings from his villa near Cronberg, made for dealers, collectors and curators. Halftone plates reproduce seventeenth-century portraits and genre pieces in soft grey tonality, with sitters in broad hats, ruffs and lace cuffs against dark grounds, alongside engraved initial blocks framed by urns, palmettes and rope borders.
