Celebrated paintings and works of art [electronic resource]
A dealer's stock catalogue issued by Gimpel & Wildenstein in New York in 1900, reproducing paintings, tapestries and decorative objects offered to American collectors of French eighteenth-century art. The halftone plates show fête galante park scenes with crowds under trees, a Boucher-style tapestry of ruins and bathers within a woven border, and enamelled or carved box lids with rocaille cartouches, putti and grapevine scrolls, useful for borders, ornamental frames and figure groupings.
