From wool to cloth
A promotional trade booklet issued by the American Woolen Company in Boston in 1911, walking customers and buyers through worsted manufacture from raw fleece to finished cloth. Halftone photographs, captioned and often grouped two or three to a page, show scouring troughs, gilling and drawing frames, spinning rows and power looms with workers at them, printed in warm sepia on patterned endpaper grounds.
