F. Wheatley, R. A., his life and works, with a catalogue of his engraved pictures
A study and engraving catalogue of the English painter Francis Wheatley (1747-1801), compiled by William Roberts and published in London by Otto in 1910 for collectors and print connoisseurs. The plates are halftone reproductions of stipple and mezzotint engravings after Wheatley's rustic and sentimental genre scenes: cottage doorways, basket makers, street criers, courting couples and family groups set in soft wooded landscapes, useful for period costume, oval vignette formats and tonal figure grouping.
