George Cruikshank's Table-book
A reissue of the 1845 comic miscellany written by Gilbert Abbott À Beckett and etched throughout by George Cruikshank, published in London by Bell and Daldy in 1869 for middle-class readers of humorous periodicals. The etchings are loose pen-line scenes of Victorian streets, taverns, theatres and pantomime devilry, with hatched shadow and crowds of caricatured faces useful for expressive figure work and comic vignettes.
