Gabrielis Rollenhagii Selectorum emblematum centuria secunda
A second hundred emblems compiled by Gabriel Rollenhagen and engraved by Crispijn van de Passe, published at Utrecht in 1613 for educated readers who collected mottoes and moral devices. Each plate is a circular copperplate scene ringed by a Latin motto in capitals, with pedestals, serpents, plants, armored duellists, ruins and windmills set in fine-lined landscapes, supplying ready-made roundels, banded lettering frames and small emblematic motifs.
