Galileo, his life and work
A biography of Galileo by engineer and historian of science J. J. Fahie, published by John Murray in London in 1903 for educated general readers and students of astronomy. The 22 plates mix halftone photographs of Italian villas, courtyards under stone arches, and frescoed rotundas with statuary against line-engraved city plans and building elevations, offering designers architectural views, period instruments, and dense engraved map texture.
