The game of draughts; simplified and illustrated with diagrams. Founded on the games of Andrew Anderson
An 1881 Brooklyn instruction manual on draughts, edited by Julian Darragh Janvier from the games of the Scottish champion Andrew Anderson, aimed at players studying openings and endgame positions. The plates are small square board diagrams printed in line: hatched dark squares against plain light ones, plain circles for one side and ringed or dotted circles for the other, some boards numbered by hand, giving designers ready-made checkered grids, dot-and-ring counters, and hatching textures.
