Games for the playground, home, school and gymnasium
A 1909 manual of games compiled by Jessie Hubbell Bancroft and published by Macmillan in New York for teachers, playground supervisors and gymnasium instructors. The plates are halftone photographs of children and adults mid-game outdoors and in gymnasiums, printed on yellowed stock with coarse screens and heavy shadow masses, giving designers silhouetted figure groups, hoop and ball props, and diagrammatic formations of players in lines and circles.
