Garment dyeing
A 1906 dye-house sample book issued by Farbenfabriken vorm. Friedrich Bayer & Co. of Elberfeld with the Continental Color & Chemical Co., made for dyers and garment finishers testing Bayer colorants on wool, silk, and cotton. The plates are grids of actual cloth swatches tipped onto buff card, each numbered and captioned with dye name and percentage, giving designers saturated navy, oxblood, yellow, and red fields, frayed fabric edges, and letterpress caption typography.
