Gateways to art and industry
A 1913 kindergarten and manual-training handbook by Olive Russell and Alice O'Grady, issued by the Milton Bradley Company of Springfield, Massachusetts, for teachers of young children. The plates are halftone photographs of paper and card exercises — laced and stitched discs, notched edges, tally-mark rows, and geometric shapes punched from circles — reproducing as flat black-and-buff silhouettes useful for pattern, icon, and stitched-edge motifs.
