Gazette des beaux-arts
An art periodical issued in Paris from 1859, reproducing works from museums and private collections for critics, curators and collectors. Plates are line engravings and etched facsimiles after old master drawings and paintings, ranging from crowded fifteenth-century pen grotesques and a draped standing female figure in soft wash to a hatched Goya-like tavern scene and a robed crowd composition, useful for drapery studies, crosshatch texture and figure groups.
