Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts, a French art periodical begun in Paris in 1859, carried engraved reproductions and original plates for collectors, critics and artists. Its pictures are fine-line etchings and wood engravings: allegorical figure groups, cherubs in medallions, ornamental cartouche borders and detailed studies of sculpted vessels, useful for frames, roundels and classical figure silhouettes.
