Gazette des beaux-arts

1859 · [Paris, s.n.] · 143 pictures

A French art periodical published in Paris from 1859, written for collectors, curators and connoisseurs, and illustrated with wood-engraved plates recording architecture, sculpture and decorative objects in museums and private cabinets. The engravings are line work in fine hatching: carved ornament panels, anthemion and rosette friezes, foliate scrollwork brackets, coffered ceiling details and small figure reliefs in architectural frames, all usable as spot ornament, border stock or texture for historicist layouts.
