Gazette des beaux-arts
A French art periodical begun in 1859 in Paris, written for collectors, critics and dealers and illustrated with engravings after paintings, prints, architecture and decorative objects. Plates mix ornament panels, carved vaulting and grotesque borders with hatched line engraving, giving designers scrollwork cartouches, rosette grids, caryatid frames and architectural details drawn at usable, reproducible scale.
