Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art review published in Paris from 1859 for collectors, critics and dealers, mixing scholarly articles with reproductions of objects in public and private hands. The plates are line reproductions after prints, engraved metalwork and carving: circular grotesque compositions with masks, sphinxes and scrolling foliage, a crucifixion roundel, and Gothic panels of rosettes in quatrefoils, usable as medallion layouts, ornament borders and hatched figure motifs.
