Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art review published in Paris from 1859 for collectors, critics and connoisseurs of painting, sculpture and the decorative arts. Its engravings mix printers' ornament — decorated initials in rococo cartouches, symmetrical headpieces of urns, putti, dolphins and scrolling foliage — with reproductive plates after paintings and landscape etchings, giving designers ready frames, tailpieces and initial letters in fine line work.
