Gazette des beaux-arts
The Gazette des beaux-arts was a Paris art review begun in 1859, written by critics and connoisseurs for collectors, dealers and artists, and illustrated with etched and engraved reproductions of paintings, sculpture and decorative schemes. The plates run to open-line etching and outline drawing: allegorical ceiling panels with winged children, classical processions, cavalry melees and rustic genre groups, useful for figure outlines, horse studies and horizontal friezes that can be cropped as borders.
