Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art periodical begun in Paris in 1859, written by critics and connoisseurs for collectors, dealers, and artists. Plates run from outline copies of medieval frescoes and mosaics to etchings and reproductive engravings after paintings, including allegorical title pages with cartouches and scrolled borders, plus dense crowd and interior scenes useful for figure groups, frames, and tonal hatching.
