Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art review published in Paris from 1859 for collectors, critics and dealers, reporting on exhibitions, museum holdings and the art market. Its plates are wood engravings and etchings copying paintings, drawings and antique sculpture, with figures modelled in dense diagonal hatching against blank grounds — useful for isolated draped figures, expressive heads and reproductive-print texture.
