Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts, a Paris art review begun in 1859 and issued for collectors, critics, and museum-minded readers, carried etched and engraved plates alongside its scholarly articles. The plates run from reproductive etchings after paintings to line copies of Renaissance engravings and small landscape studies, giving crowded figure groups, nude battle scenes, foliage drawn in open hatching, and arched vignette formats.
