Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art review published in Paris from 1859 for collectors, dealers, and connoisseurs, reporting on museums, sales, and antiquities through signed wood engravings after objects and monuments. The plates mix drawn records of bronze statuettes, carved ivory caskets, and tomb and altar elevations with ornamental friezes of sea-dragons, scrollwork, and grotesques, giving designers hatched object studies, measured architectural detail, and border strips.
