Gazette des beaux-arts
Gazette des beaux-arts was a Paris art journal begun in 1859, written by critics and scholars for collectors, museum men and artists, and illustrated with engraved and etched plates after works in public and private collections. The images are dense line reproductions of carved reliefs, tomb and altar monuments, Romanesque figure friezes and eighteenth-century ornamental etchings, useful as sources of architectural framing, allegorical figures and drapery drawn in pure black line.
