Gazette des beaux-arts

1859 · [Paris, s.n.] · 215 pictures

Gazette des beaux-arts was a French art review published in Paris from 1859 for collectors, critics and museum-minded readers, illustrated with engraved and etched reproductions of paintings, sculpture and decorative objects. The plates run from tonal engravings of tomb effigies and carved groups to spare outline facsimiles of drapery, Gothic canopies and heraldic ornament, giving designers both shaded figure work and clean line motifs for borders and spot art.
