Varley - Telescope, British Patent 3430 of 1811
A British patent specification, no. 3430 of 1811, filed by the artist and instrument maker Cornelius Varley for a telescope, drawn for patent clerks and later reprinted for instrument makers and optical historians. The plates are thin-line engineering diagrams on tinted paper: a tapering tube in section with lens elements and converging ray lines, small numbered end and detail views, plus inked figure labels and a handwritten archive note, useful as sparse technical linework and diagram furniture.
