The genealogist
A British genealogical and heraldic journal edited by George W. Marshall, published in London from 1877 for antiquaries tracing family descent and armorial bearings. Line-engraved and woodcut shields carry letter abbreviations for tinctures, quartered charges such as lions, fleurs-de-lis, hunting horns, stars and boars' heads, plus crests framed by deep acanthus mantling and tasselled cords.
