Geschichte der Buchdruckerkunst in ihrer Entstehung und Ausbildung
Constantin Karl Falkenstein's history of printing, published by B.G. Teubner in Leipzig in 1840 for German bibliographers, collectors and trade printers tracing the craft from its origins. The plates reproduce fifteenth-century blockbook and incunable pages in outline facsimile: crowned and turbaned figures under arcades, Biblia Pauperum scenes of beheading and kneeling supplicants, and unfurled banderoles carrying blackletter text, useful for scroll banners, gothic lettering and hatched line figures.
