Geschichte der deutschen Malerei
Hubert Janitschek's survey history of German painting, issued by G. Grote in Berlin in 1890 as part of a multi-volume history of German art for students and educated German readers. Plates reproduce manuscript miniatures, wall paintings and panel altarpieces in dense tonal engraving: haloed enthroned figures, medallion narrative strips with architectural frames, and garden scenes with flowering hedges, useful for medallion layouts, drapery patterns and border ornament.
