Geschichte der modernen Kunst
Adolf Rosenberg's Geschichte der modernen Kunst, a survey history of nineteenth-century art published by Grunow in Leipzig in 1889 for German readers and students of art. The plates reproduced here are engraved headpieces and tailpieces in which allegorical figures, putti, masks and drapery are built into scrolling acanthus cartouches around small pictorial vignettes, useful as ready-made page ornaments, frames and rule-and-swag dividers.
