Poggendorff's lectures on the history of physics, delivered at the University of Berlin and published posthumously in Leipzig by J. A. Barth in 1879 for students of the sciences. The line cuts are small in-text diagrams: glass vessels, pistons and gear trains, early steam apparatus, and lettered geometric constructions, useful as spare technical linework and instrument silhouettes.
