Recht ghebruyck ende misbruyck, van tydlycke have : van rijckdom, nodruft en ghebreck ick beluyck t'onzaligh misbruyck, mettet zaligh ghebruyck
A Dutch emblem book on the right use and misuse of wealth, written by Bernard Furmerius with engravings designed by Dirck Volkertszoon Coornhert and cut by Jan Wierix, printed by Christopher Plantin at Leiden in 1585 for moralizing lay readers. The numbered square plates stage labelled personifications and merchants in fine cross-hatched line, with muscular nudes, plumed hats, dogs, coin purses, classical porticoes and burning towns behind.
