Giocondo Albertolli, der Ornamentiker des italienischen Klassizismus
A German monograph by Arthur Kauffmann on the Italian neoclassical stuccoist Giocondo Albertolli (1742-1839), published by J. H. Ed. Heitz in Strassburg in 1911 for art historians and students of decoration. The plates reproduce his ceiling and wall schemes in raised plaster — coffered panels, spandrel friezes, rosettes, acanthus scrolls and winged caryatid figures — printed as tonal photographs that give designers ready-made rectangular frames, border strips and repeatable relief motifs.
